Established under the Trade Organization Ordinance, 1961
And the Companies Act, 1913 (Attended in 1994)
Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CMCCI) is a 1st class trade body of the Corporate business community, Commercially important persons, large employers, key exporters & big investors in the major port city of the country, duly approved by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh & affiliated with the FBCCI, the apex trade organization.
CMCCI representing the interests of the private sector plays a fundamental role in consultative & advisory capacity in formulation of commercial, industrial, fiscal and economic policies of the Government. CMCCI has been participating in all forums of the Government sharing views on vital issues affecting the economy including protection of justified interest of local industries.
Members of CMCCI also have been contributing under corporate social responsibility (CSR) for the less privileged group in the society & as such, supplementing the initiatives of the GOB including but not limited to providing all possible support for joint venture investment

04. Objectives & Functions:
* To promote, coordinate and protect justified interest of its member & the business community.
* To facilitate & stimulate investment, development of trade, commerce, industry, tourism, human Resources and communication sectors in Bangladesh, specially to facilitate exports.
* To project, encourage & safeguard the cause of private sector through effective consultation and Inter-action with the Government/ inter Ministerial Committees, stake holders and agencies.
* To assist the members in boosting business at home & abroad for advancement & investment.
* To organize trainings/workshop/discussion/seminar/conference & dissemination of information.
* To support utilization of local resources that facilitates income generating activities.
* To encourage involvement of the private sector in building awareness of climate change.
* CMCCI represents the private sector in different Govt. & non Govt. Agencies, Autonomous. Bodies, maintains relation with National Trade Bodies and Industrial Associations for growth.
* CMCCI is involved with bilateral ties for commercial and economic co-operation, helps promote Foreign/joint venture Investment and identify appropriate partners.
